Non-Western Character Sets

Internally, Allegra uses Unicode and UTF-8 for page encoding. We recommend that you use UTF-8 or UTF-16 for your email templates and database connection.

Database character encoding configurations depends on the database system you are using. If possible, set it to UTF-8 or UTF-16.
